The Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences at the University of Oxford is looking for a Clinical Research Fellow in Transplantation Surgery to work on normothermic perfusion of discarded kidneys and pancreases under the supervision of Professor Peter J Friend. This work is with the group who have developed normothermic machine perfusion and undertaken the first human liver transplant following normothermic machine perfusion in 2013. This research is to carry on from work already done on developing a preservation device for the pancreas and kidney, aiming to take this to the next step and potentially into Phase 1 trials. The experimental work is funded by the NIHR with opportunities for additional grant funding. This is ideally suited to surgical trainees interested in undertaking a higher degree (MD or PhD). There will be opportunities to get involved in the multi-organ retrieval rota and/or elective HPB surgery on a super-nurmerary basis.
