Conversations on the Future of Transplantation - Vascular Access

Mr Ali Kordzadeh will lead a focused session on vascular access as part of our series on the future of transplantation. Vascular access affects who reaches transplantation and how safely patients stay on the waiting list. Access failure increases admissions, delays listing and interrupts the pathway. Good access planning supports safer dialysis, more stable pre-transplant care and better outcomes after surgery.

Mr Kordzadeh is a vascular and renal access surgeon at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. His training includes FRCS in vascular surgery, FEBS, FEBVS, a PhD on vascular access in end stage renal disease, an MD on ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm and an MSc in critical care. He has published more than 100 peer reviewed papers and two book chapters.

The session will cover access planning and assessment, fistula options, graft selection, surgical pitfalls, factors that affect patency and salvage pathways.
